The Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts is a by-research programme that invites you to conduct project-based research. It is an M.A. geared towards individual development, where you will be expected to carry out studio-based and practice-based portfolios, as well as a written dissertation on a subject of your choosing in the field of visual arts. You will be encouraged to participate in seminars and to demonstrate your communication skills in presenting your projects and creative designs. The M.A. will prepare you for a lifetime of art-making under the guidance of experts in the field as you learn to also appreciate the significance of cultural artefacts.

Applicants whose first degree was obtained more than 10 years previous to registration for the Course may also be admitted provided that they provide sufficient proof of their competence to follow the Course with profit. The Board may, at its discretion, require such applicants to follow a preparatory programme.
Preparatory Programme
Applicants may be required to complete a preparatory programme comprising not less than 30 and not more than 60 ECTS credits as directed by the Board, particularly when they wish to focus on an area of research different from that followed in the first cycle degree but do not possess the skills or the knowledge to take up postgraduate studies in that area. Applicants shall be required to obtain an overall average mark of 65% or better in the preparatory programme prior to their registration as regular students on the Course.

As a holder of the M.A. of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, you will be employable, both locally and abroad, as an architect, archivist, art editor/gallery director/consultant, curator, cinematographer, cartoonist, illustrator, exhibit designer, painter, critic, fashion designer and teacher.
